Obituary

AISHA CRYSTAL WHITE was born on July 10, 1977, to Jerry Dale White and Marilyn Silas White at Altus Air Force Base Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma, where she lived for about three years with her parents until they moved back home to Texas. She was blessed to be near her large family in Jasper, Texas. Aisha attended public school in Jasper and graduated from Jasper High School in 1995, where she excelled in academics. She was a straight-A student and a member of the National Honors Society. She received membership in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She was praised highly by many of her teachers who wrote rare reviews on her report cards (her mother still has those report cards to this day). Aisha was a member of the Jasper High School Marching Band where she played her favorite chosen instrument, the clarinet (years later her daughter, Armani, would become a band member at JISD and play the clarinet). She excelled in the band; she won many awards, was "first chair," and her band members praised her talent.

After graduating from JHS, she attended the University of Houston, majoring in Biology. U of H immediately sent her a letter awarding her a substantial scholarship, adding they awarded it without her applying for it, stating they had seen her academic record. Aisha would later attend Tyler Co. Hospital LVN School of Nursing in Woodville, Texas, where her nursing instructor was the famous Eva Stanley, who had a reputation for being a tough instructor. On the night of graduation from LVN School (her loyal, late aunt, Linda Hadnot Barlow, and friend, Fannie, showed up at the celebration), Ms. Stanley leaned over and whispered to Aisha's mom, "She's great."

In her childhood, she occasionally attended Faith Temple COGIC where her father and his family were members. In her adult life, she was baptized and joined Peaceful Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Stafford, where her grandmother Lottie Hadnot Pegue is a member. She also occasionally attended churches with her late grandmother, Bertha Kenebrew, who would pick her up frequently to go to churches where her uncle, Bishop Cedric Kennebrew, would be preaching. She kept her Bible close.

Aisha became a dialysis nurse at Jasper Dialysis. She became very skilled and was praised by patients she cared for. She was loved by her coworkers. Aisha loved her five children, and she loved Cokes and Dr. Pepper in a large cup of ice and candy bars. She loved to decorate her home, especially with flowers. She loved to cook and kept a neat home. Her kids praised her cooking, and her mom called her "Ms. Betty Crocker." Aisha was a daddy's girl from birth. She was blessed to have her father who loved her and stood by her all her life. He would regularly travel to check on her and would do whatever, no matter what. She had a close relationship with her grandmother, Lottie Pegues, who was her babysitter in her early years and who was always there for her.

When Aisha was born, her grandparents, Bertha and CJ Kennebrew, grandmother Lottie, uncle James Silas, and cousin Donald Ray Silas traveled from Jasper, Texas to Altus, Oklahoma (eight hours and 500 miles) to see the newborn baby girl.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bertha and CJ Kennebrew, James White, and Billy Tom Silas, Sr.; aunt, Barbara White Samuel; and special cousins, Justin Silas and Torri Barlow-Merrick.

Aisha leaves to cherish her memories: her five children, Armani Raquel Flemons, Brayden "Bubba" Flemons, Jordan "JMan" Flemons, Kyle and Kaleb Garrett; parents, Marilyn Silas-White and Jerry Dale White (Clemontene); siblings, Kimberly Adams, Jerry White, Jr. (Kinesha), Kevin White, Devin White, Deylan White, and Donald Adams; grandparents, Lottie Hadnot Pegues (Willie); uncles, James Silas (Suenji), Billy T. Silas, Jr., Tommy White (Hysen), Lenord White (LaDonna), Patrick White (Karen), Kevin Kennebrew (Cynthia), and Cedric Kennebrew (Joyce); aunts, Gracie White Malbrough, Linda White, and Laura Kennebrew; special cousins, Torri Reese, St. Julien Jr., and Tabetha Rawls; longtime devoted friend, Kevin Garrett; and a host of other relatives, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
