Mrs. Almedia Galloway Martin, of Pineland, Texas died Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Beaumont Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by family.

Almedia was born July 15, 1957, in Pineland, Texas to Katherine Galloway and Talmedge McCray. She was the fifth of nine brothers and sisters. Almedia was reared by her grandmother, also known as "Big-Moma," Harriett Gasaway Horn and Ruben Horn along with her siblings. She was the mother hen of the family. Almedia attended Bryant High and West Sabine High School. She started working at an early age. She was very hard working and an exceptional cook. She was a long-time employee of Hines Nursing Home and Dairy Queen. She was very devoted to her entire family, especially her husband and her children. Her heart of gold, outspokenness, and good cooking brought a long-lasting connection with her family and community. She joined Johnson Chapel CME at an early age where she was a devoted member. She devoted her time to the Pineland Youth Community Choir for many years. Almedia lost her eyesight, but that didn't stop her from doing anything, including cooking. Her memory was impeccable. She knew EVERYBODY'S birthday! Almedia married Wilson Martin Jr. and they were inseparable. They attended Goodwill Baptist Church faithfully. We will forever cherish and remember her cooking, her laugh, and her loving nature.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Katherine Galloway and Talmedge McCray; grandparents, Harriett Horn and Ruben Horn; and son Tyrone Galloway.

Almedia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Wilson "Woodrow" Martin, Jr; two daughters, Amy Galloway of Pineland TX and Tawana Galloway of Baton Rouge La; two sons Paul Galloway of Houston TX, and Byron(Penny) Galloway of Pineland, TX. Siblings, Verdi Lee Wallace of Houston TX; Calvin McCray of Houston TX; Louvenia Galloway of Pineland, TX; Vivian Haley(Willie Ray) of Beaumont, TX; Benny Galloway of Houston, TX; Prentice Ray Galloway (Amy) of Houston, TX; Jackqueline Owens (Kevin) of Pearland, TX, and Saprena Galloway Maze of Pineland, TX. Grandchildren; Travez Galloway, Eternity Ferguson, Integriti Williams, LaMare' Williams, Honesti Williams, Gabriel Arias, Jessie Bischamp, Aron Bischamp, and Taylor Bischamp. God daughters; Angela Williams, and Octavia Bosley.
