Bro. Alvin Shaw was born September 6, 1944, the ninth living child of ten children, to Lorenza and Ethel Steel Shaw in Jasper, Texas. He attended and graduated from Rowe High School, the class of 1963.

Alvin was united with Evergreen Baptist Church at an early age. Alvin began working initially in construction for a few years in Beaumont, and Louisiana.

Bro. Alvin Shaw was preceded in death by his parents and six of his siblings:  Prentis Shaw (Franklin, Louisiana & Dallas, TX); Lawrence Shaw (Dallas, TX); Robert Shaw (Houston, TX); Laurella "Ms. T" Shaw Thomas (Jasper, TX); Ethel Shaw Brame (Colorado Spring, Colorado); Jewelene "Jewel" Shaw McNeil (Austin, TX).  He will be greeted at the heavenly gates by grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He leaves a lifetime of memories with his remaining siblings: Lindbergh Shaw (Cleo) of Austin, TX; Hattie Shaw (Houston, TX); and Patricia Shaw (Houston, TX).

There are over (70) loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, classmates and others who also cherished and loved Alvin.
