Obituary

Angelene "Angie" Scott Brown was born on May 6, 1946, in Toledo Bend, Texas, to the late Hamp Scott and Ethel Langston Scott. Angie departed this earthly life and entered into eternal life on October 1, 2023, with her two daughters by her side. She was educated through the Wiergate school system. She worked as a nurse's aid at Nashville General Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, for several years before
moving back to Texas. On occasion, Angie was called up to be a substitute teacher at Burkeville Elementary School.
Angie loved the Lord, and she so loved her church, this church. She served as treasurer, secretary, groundskeeper at the church, and at the family cemetery for many years until her health failed.
In 2013, Angie retired from TDCJ Gib Lewis Unit after 15 years of service. After retirement, Angie voluntarily cared for three of her older siblings. A challenge it was, but she would not have had it any other way. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Apostle Paul, you know she is having a fit right now seeing all those magnolia tree leaves in her yard.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Hamp Scott and Ethel Langston Scott; sisters, Annie Scott, Nettie Jane Palmer, and Margaret Lucille Hickman; brothers, Mark and Daniel (D. L.) Scott; daughter-in-law, Bridgette Jones; and fur baby, "Jewel."
She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories: her sons, Mark Anthony Brown of Nashville, Tennessee, and CSM Roberto Brown, U.S. Army (Retired), of Gulfport, Mississippi; daughters, Denese Brown-Hofstetter (Dr. David) of Santa Clara, California, and Kashaunda Brown-Fant (Bobby) of Groves, Texas; sister, Ociella (Ocie) Scott of Houston, Texas; brother, Marshall
Scott of Toledo Bend, Texas; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
It is important to recognize Angie's nieces and nephews whom
she loved dearly and treated like they were her own children,
Edward (Buster) Scott, Charles Scott, Emma Duren, Booker
