Betty Jo Joiner was born August 20, 1939 to Matilda Dean and Alvin Dean. She was the seventh child of eight and four preceded her in death; Elvester Dean, Florine Hawkins, J.W. Dean, and Charles Dean.

She met and married John Henry Joiner Jr. on September 19, 1955. He preceded her in death. To their union, seven children were born and one, Alvin, preceded her in death.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: six children; JoAnne Mass (Michael) of Houston, Texas, Lela (John) Rollins of Newton, TX, Carry (Maurice) Davis of Newton, TX, Barry (Marilyn) Joiner of Jasper, TX, Ray  Joiner of Jasper, TX, and Kimbra Joiner of Wiergate, TX. Two sisters; Bobbie Harris of Houston, TX and Telson Warren of Newton, TX. One brother, Jessie Dean, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
