Houston
Beverly Ann Kirksey Spikes, affectionately known to most as "Sweetie", was born on April 30, 1950, to Pharris and Fellownece Kirksey in Newton County, Texas. She was the third of eight children. Beverly spent her childhood in the Liberty community where she attended Liberty Public School and Kerr High School. Beverly then married Field
Spikes, Jr., on September 22, 1967, and moved to Silsbee, Texas where she began her family. After living in Silsbee, Texas for a year, Beverly and F. J. moved their family to Houston, Texas for a better life.
Beverly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her childhood years. She was baptized and lived a Christian life. She was a long active member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas,
under the leadership of Pastor Richard J. Lott, Sr. She later became a member of the Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Richard J. Rose, where she served faithfully.
Beverly was employed with R. B. Furniture as an office manager then left employment to assume her responsibilities as a Domestic Engineer. Knowing what was important in life, Beverly remained devoted to
her husband, children, and grandchildren. Beverly's love for fashion and clothing gave birth to her craft developing beautiful garments for weddings, proms, and special events until her health began to fail. Beverly was also known for her delicious soul food dishes such as pinto beans, fried chicken, dressing, banana pudding, and potato salad.
Beverly answered the call of God on Thursday, August 24, 2023, after an evening of fellowship with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pharris and Fellownece Kirksey, and her husband of 46 years, Field Spikes, Jr.
Beverly will be remembered with love by her surviving children, Melony Deshone Spikes, Nicole Yuvonne Spikes, and Marcus O'Brien (Moesha) Spikes; four grandchildren, Felicia Danielle Robinson, Shalynn
Marquise Spikes, Myles Douglas Brown, and Kaitlyn Rhea Solomon; one great-grandson, Jaylen Sherrod Mathews; sisters and brothers, Aggie (Raymond) Bennett, Reginald (Jacquelyn) Kirksey, Michael Kirksey, Regina Molden, and Judy Brunson; one brother-in-love, Calvin Spikes, Jr.; devoted friend, Harry J.
