Billie Joe Mays Sr. was born on September 23, 1942 in Jasper Texas to Mr. and Mrs. President and Parthener Adams Mays, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the fifth child of twelve children. Billie Joe later met and married Earnestine Williams on November 13, 1961 and to this union 8 children were born. He was a member of Westside Church of Christ.

Billie Joe Mays Sr was baptized at Westside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, President and Parthener Mays, five brothers: Raymond Mays, Freddie Lee Mays, Eddie B Mays, E J Mays, and Bobbie J Mays.

Billie Joe was a caring and devoted husband and father who worked hard to raise his children. He attended J H Rowe school but at the age of 13 he left home, dropped out of school and worked harvesting timber with his uncles Arthur Mays and Harvey Lewis. At the age of 19 he married and started his own family. From 1964 to 1974 he worked for Williams Logging in Jasper TX and Colton's Timber Company in Colmesnell TX. In 1974 he purchased his own equipment and for the next 25yrs he harvested and haul timber for several businesses in East and Southeast Texas.

Billie Joe leaves to cherish his memories wife Earnestine Williams Mays, six (6) sons: Billie Joe Mays Jr. (Lisa) Jasper TX, Mark Mays (Pam) Houston TX, Erick Patrick Mays (Eleanor) Lance Mays (Christy), Brian Mays (Latisha) all of Humble TX and Kevin Mays of Jasper TX; two (2) daughters: Amy Mays Lacey Humble TX, Raymona Mays Jasper TX. Four (4) sisters: Mamie Fowler, Lillie (Clayton) Fillyaw, Mildred Williams, Betty (Lavel) Tukes; Two (2) brothers: Dent (Diane) Mays. Tommy Lee (Laquinta) Mays all of Jasper Texas, He Leave behind (23) grandchildren (18) great grandchildren and a host of nieces

nephews and other relatives.
