Obituary

Bobbie Joyce was born September 11, 1944, in Jasper, Texas. She was the fifth of six children born to Leon Sr. and Nellie Dacus.

Bobbie Joyce graduated from J.H. Rowe High School in 1963. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ. While living in Beaumont, she attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, and when she returned to Jasper, she united with Greater New Bethel Baptist Church.

Bobbie Joyce was always known as a caregiver. After high school, she was drawn to nursing, working at Mary Dickerson Hospital in Jasper, Texas. She later graduated from Franklin Beauty School in Houston, Texas, and had her own business in Jasper.

She was also involved in her community. Until her health failed, she was an active member of the Jasper Women's Civic Club and the Jasper Pillars of the Community. She later returned to nursing, working at Christus Hospital in Jasper, Texas, and when the need arose, she lovingly cared for her mother, Nellie.

Bobbie Joyce lived a full life with a contagious laugh and smile!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Sr. and Nellie Dacus; three brothers, Leon Jr., Jimmy Dacus, and James Adams; and one sister, Ida Dacus.

Bobbie Joyce leaves a life and legacy of memories to be cherished by her devoted daughter, LaTonya Jeri' Dacus; special goddaughter, Kendra Adams; two brothers, Samuel (Bettye) Dacus and Joe Sells; two sisters, Annie Clyde Geer and Gloria Dacus; sister-in-law, Bettie Dacus; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
