Brindal Joyce Mays, also known as "Mrs. Brinda", was born on April 22, 1954, to the late Calvin and Mary Ella Grant in Jasper, Texas. She was one of ten children.

She attended school in Jasper and graduated from JH Rowe High School. Brindal loved the Lord and was baptized at Moore Chapel Church.

Later in life, she met and married J.P. Mays, and to this union five children were born. Brindal was a very kind-hearted and loving person. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, shopping, and dancing. She will truly be missed.

Brindal passed away in her home on April 19, 2022, at the age of 67.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Mays; her parents, Calvin and Mary Ella Grant; one sister, Mammie Warren; and six brothers, Johnny Lee, Curtis Ray, Aurthur Lee, Calvin, Jr., Melvin Ray, and Ervin Grant.

Brindal leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Tyrone Grant, Wanda Grant (Tchalla), Rhonda Grant, J.P. Grant, Sr. (Ericka), and John Grant. Siblings, Debbie Grant, James Grant (Faye), and Mary Melissa Beatty. She also leaves twenty grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of stepchildren, other relatives, and friends.
