Obituary

Mr. CJ, a handsome baby boy, was born on October 12, 1952, to the late J.P. and Annie Bea Collins in Tylertown, Mississippi. He was a devoted son and loving brother. He attended school in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Columbia, Mississippi, before moving to Jasper and attending JH Rowe and Jasper High School. CJ loved his style of art, reading, bouncing a basketball, but most of all, playing neighborhood
baseball. He worked in the school office with a girl who caught his eye who he called "Hot-Shot." He dated this "Hot-Shot," who became known as Glenda Joy Simmons, who watched him run track and jump hurdles. She cheered him on while he played football, and she was the pep squad line captain.

After two years, the two were united as one for over 52 years. They were blessed with four beautiful daughters: Trecia, Sauliea, Nena, and Crissy. He would say that he was a rich man, for he felt much love and had much to give in return.

He owned his own pulpwood business and later drove his own individual trucks. He retired due to an illness but went back to work with The Gulf Coast Health Center, where he found much joy. His wife joined him after he united with the Westside Church of Christ, where he loved singing and being a helpful brother where needed. He picked up new skills by learning the computer and operating film in the media room. CJ and Glenda worked media side by side for they were best friends in Christ.

He was preceded in death by one brother, KC Collins; three sisters, Ida Lee Collins, Jo Carolyn Collins, and Annie Ruth James; one daughter Consauliea Jeneane Mass; and one well-loved sister-in-law, Lela B. Simmons.

Our beloved CJ leaves cherished memories to: his loving and devoted wife, Glenda Joy of Jasper, TX; three daughters, LaTricia (Andy) Smith of Winona, TX; KaTrena (Jamie) Larkin of Flint, TX, Crystal Collins of Beaumont, TX; one son-in-law, Le'Kendre Mass of Tyler, TX; four brothers, JT (Ella) Collins of Kokomo, MS, AD Collins of Foxworth, MS, Rickey (Mary) Hadnot of Jasper, TX, and Jimmy (Deloris) Hadnot of Memphis, TN; seven sisters, Alberta Brister of Foxworth, MS, Janice Tyson of Baltimore, MD, Barbra Young, Shirley (McRubin) Bevil, Faye McBride of Jasper, TX, Jo Ann Hadnot of Beaumont, TX, and Betty (Don) Booker of La Porte, TX; one godson, Leon D.
