Cecil Ray
Traylor
Jun 11, 1954 — Nov 26, 2020
Jasper
CECIL RAY TRAYLOR was born June 11, 1954, to the late Cecil Traylor and Joan Margaret Adams of Jasper, Texas. Cecil Ray was
the eldest son of four children born to that union. He was preceded in death by both parents; and his oldest sister, Cecilia Traylor Larkin.
Cecil Ray professed a hope and faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. He became a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church after being baptized by the late Reverend C.D. Daniels. Growing up, he served in several youth ministries at the church.
Cecil attended J.H. Rowe Elementary and J.H. Rowe Jr. High School. He later attended Jasper High School as a part of the Class of 1972.
Cecil Ray worked at L/P Lumber Company for 20 years. He also worked eight years at Champion International. He retired in 2004
due to some health challenges.
Cecil united in Holy matrimony with Linda Sue Edwards on June 26, 1992. They had been married for 28 years at the time of his death. As a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, Cecil Ray will be remembered for his lighthearted nature, his good cooking, especially his barbecue skills, and his great hospitality. His home was always open to guests. Those who visited his home knew they would receive a good meal and a place to sleep if needed. His guests needed to be ready for a pick-up game of dominoes. He took his domino games seriously.
On Thursday, November 26, 2020, Cecil Ray Traylor departed this earth. God allowed his angels to touch Cecil and lead him to his final
resting place in Glory.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Linda Sue Traylor; three sons, Christopher Traylor, Wilbert Adams, and Wadrick DeShun Diggles; one daughter, Andrea (Theodis) Wilsons; one sister, Ester Smith of Missouri City, Texas; two brothers, Kent (Anie) Arthur and Willie Ernest (Edna) Adams, both of Jasper, Texas; five grandchildren, Makayla Adams, Wilbert Adams, Jr., of Barstow, California, Wil'lae Adams of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christopher Traylor, Jr., of St. Lucia, Florida, and Cameron Wilson of San Augustine, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends to include Donald Harrison, Alfred Davis, Ernest Twine, Wilbert Adams, and Terry Powell.
A special thanks to Raven Renfro for her kindness and generosity.
