Obituary

Charles Herman Adams was born on December 10, 1953, to the late Nathaniel and Connie Jean Calhon Adams in Newton County Texas. He was the first born of nine children.

Charles was a member of Liberty Chapel in the Liberty community of Newton County Texas under the leadership of Pastor Rita Davis and Overseer Clyde Ray Davis Sr. He was a graduate of the Burkeville High School class of 1972.

Charles was employed with the City of Newton for some time, but he was a true entrepreneur. He started a logging job in the timber industry. He was passionate about it and embodied the true meaning of hard work, often pushing himself beyond normal limits. He didn't just work – he WORKED. From sunup to sundown out doing whatever it took to make it work.

His homestead was his pride and joy – a testament to his meticulous nature and deep love for the land. It wasn't just land to him; it was his kingdom. He took exceptional care of his animals, maintained his work equipment with precision and nurtured his garden with the same attention.

Charles was a devoted son, beloved father and PAWPAW, a loyal brother, a cherished uncle and trusted friend. To know him was to love him; rough edges and all. Beneath his tough exterior beat a heart of genuine generosity. Those close to him knew the rare moments when his soft side would emerge – a reminder that strength and tenderness can coexist beautifully.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Vernor Adams and Charles Jones.

Charles leaves to remember the good times: his children, Melissa Alford, Dwight Adams Sr. and Cicely Adams; grandchildren, Austin Rawls, Ashlin Alford, Lailah Adams, Sabrina Adams, Dwight Adams Jr. and Mak Holman; great-grandchildren, Ariana and Aliya Rawls; sisters, Sharon Adams, Nettie Adams, Yolanda Adams, Glenda Haywood, Metlene Boatner and Kristle Mewes; brothers, Michael Adams and Richard Adams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
