Obituary

Charley Lee Young's sun rose on July 15, 1954. He was the second born of fourteen children and the first son of Levi and Thyatira Young.

He was preceded in death by his father, Levi Young; brothers, Sheldon, Eugene, and Robert; grandparents; and other beloved family members.

Charley began his education in the Bryant ISD in Pineland, Texas, and completed his high school years at Brookeland ISD in Brookeland, Texas. After high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology in 1978. During his college years, he was enlisted in the Navy ROTC program for three years.

After graduation, Charley worked for NPI (New Products Introductions) before devoting his life to his faith. In 1980, he became a faithful Jehovah's Witness and remained steadfast until his passing.

Charley loved his family deeply and enjoyed collecting old family photographs that preserved their shared history. He was also a lifelong New York Giants football fan. Above all, Charley will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, and uncle.

Charley's sun set on September 10, 2025.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted mother, Thyatira Young of Brookeland, TX; his daughter, Jessica (Andy) Clontz of Edmond, OK; and his grandmother, Bertha Mae Hamilton of Brookeland, TX. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce (Bobby) Kegler of Pineland, TX; Stephanie (Terrence) Hawthorne of Jasper, TX; and Dorothy Young of San Antonio, TX. His brothers, Clifton (Charlotte) Young of San Antonio, TX; Leonard (Anna) Young of San Antonio, TX; Glenn Young of Brookeland, TX; Marvin (Cynthia) Young of San Antonio, TX; Jerry Young of Brookeland, TX; and Terry (Keisha) Young of Jasper, TX, also survive him.

He is further remembered by his ex-wife, Charlotte Bradford of Edmond, OK; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Though his earthly journey has ended, Charley's legacy of faith, family love, and cherished memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
