Charmaine
Brooks
Dec 6, 1949 — Nov 18, 2022
Charmain LaRuth Brooks was born on December 6, 1949, to the late Vera Allen and Stephen McBride in Shankleville, Texas. She was the fourth child and third daughter of Vera.
At an early age, Charmain was baptized and joined Mt. Hope Baptist Church. She attended Wiergate High School. She later met and then married her husband Robert Brooks in the late 1960s. Charmain provided for her three daughters by working in the healthcare field for many years.
She retired in the mid 2000s and began to do all the things she loved to do. She would go fishing with her grandson, cook for her family on any occasion, watch horror movies, and spend time with those who called her "Mom" and "Momo." Charmain was true to herself, and there was no sugar-coating to the ones whom she gave advice. Those of you who knew her knew that Charmain was just always Charmain. She stayed strong in her faith and fought the good fight until the very end. She will truly be missed and forever remembered by her family and to those whose lives she touched.
Although Charmain lived in various places, she returned and resided in Burkeville, Texas, until she transitioned on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Christus Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Charmain was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brooks; parents, Vera Allen and Stephen McBride; grandparents, Robert F. and Dora Perkins Allen; two sisters, Eddie Bea Mitchell and LeVada Young; and one brother, J.B. Allen (Chinee).
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, CaTrina Brooks of Wiergate, Texas, Lisa Williams of Newton, Texas, and Fae Turner of Burkeville, Texas; sister, Vada Faye (Charles) Johnson of California; grandchildren, Danielle, Tiara, Ashley, Kirstin, Dexter, Tyrrell, Ray, and John Steven; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of loved ones and friends.
