Claude
Adams
Aug 9, 1932 — Jun 24, 2026
We are here to celebrate the long life of Claude Adams (Cap/Cap Jack). He was born on August 9, 1932, to Earskin and Easter Adams. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, at 10:40 PM. His two stepsons, their wives, and one of the grandsons were by his side as he transitioned. He was the sole survivor of his five siblings: Bobbie Janes Fowler, Robert Lee Adams, Willie B. Adams, Lillie Adams, and Donald Ray Adams.
He met and married Lillie Ruth Cheatham in 1956. They were married for 63 years until her passing in November 2019. Claude graduated from J. H. Rowe High School where he played football. Cap worked for Visador Company and retired after 25 years. Claude and Lillie were long-term, active members of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Jasper. He made it a point to consistently attend Wednesday night bible study. He also held the office of Church Treasurer. One of his hobbies was caring for his own lawn and the lawns of others who asked. He lived in Jasper for 93 years.
He will be missed by his nieces, Rita Fowler, Hattie Fowler, Sandra Mahathy (Billy), Annie Ray Bronson, Danette Little (Earnest), Marilyn Byrd (Thurman), and Emma Tunwar; nephews, Jimmy Charles Adams (Marilyn), Willie James Adams, Carl Erskin Adams, Joseph Adams, and Barrett Adams; and many cousins. He leaves behind his two stepsons, James Cheatham (JoAnn) and Donald Cheatham (Betty), and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
