Obituary

Brother Clinton Author Gatson, Sr., was born on August 8, 1945, in Newton County, Texas, to the late Alexander and Inez Gatson, Sr. He resided in Newton most of his life, leaving only to serve his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army. Upon returning home, Clinton married the loved of his life, Miss Jean Travis. To this union six children were born, Clinton Jr., Aretha, Tommy, Leonard, Tracy, and April. He was a devoted deacon and enjoyed singing in various choirs.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He supported education and work; he exemplified good work ethics for his family. The example was to work for what you need, do your best, and let God do the rest.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Inez; son, Clinton Jr.; daughter, Aretha; sister, Geraldine; and brothers, Leemond, Howard, and Robert and Alexander Gatson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Jean Gatson; daughters, Tracy and April; sons, Tommy and Leonard; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Ira (Melba) and Charles; sisters, Dorothy, Lois, Ernestine, and Helen; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
