Obituary

Crystal Marie Samuel was born on December 17, 1987 in Houston, Texas to parents Terry and Pamela Samuel. Crystal was a happy baby; full of love and extremely active as she followed older brother TJ to every event he participated in and joined him later as she developed into a strong little girl.

Crystal accepted Christ into her life at an early age being baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Thurman Walker of Antioch Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Crystal was a member of the Antioch Youth Choir participating in all youth activities. Crystal attended schools participating in the San Antonio area: Castle Hill First Baptist School, Jordan Middle School and Earl Warren High School. Crystal enjoyed a variety of sports participating in
gymnastics, karate with her brother TJ middle school and high school tract, and varsity basketball. In spite of having firstborn son, Jaylen prior to graduating from high school, Crystal went on to graduate at the top 10% of her class receiving several scholarships offers. Crystal instead decided to enlist in the United States Army as she desired to serve her country. Crystal participated in the Army's Basketball team while in Germany. Crystal served as a first line Radiology Specialist receiving wounded soldiers being brought into the Kaiserslutern Clinic in Germany from the battlefields during the war. Crystal tirelessly positioned the bodies of our wounded soldiers in hopes that they would regain the use of their shattered limbs. Unfortunately, the long hours spent at her post using the antiquated imagine equipment proved to cause Crystal harm as she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She also suffered a broken knee- cap and ankle when a fellow German basketball player fell on her during a game, ending her love of participating in the sport.

Crystal was transported along with Jaylen back to San Antonio when she became a patient at Brooke Army Medical Center being medical retired January 27, 2013, after serving honorably for 6 years.

Crystal chose to settle in Colorado ultimately in the Denver area where she met her fiancé, Trevor Dunham. In spite of her physicians predictions of infertility due to her overexposure to radiation, Crystal and Trevor welcomed a son, Jaxson Reed Dunham on December 17, 2020 the same day she was born 33 years prior. Jaxson arrived early as he was due on February 5, 2021. Crystal did suffer complications as a result of Jaxson's premature birth as in her act of giving life resulted in her untimely death only a short time later on December 29, 2020.

Crystal was preceded in death by her younger brother, Waren Reed Samuel – December 21, 2019.

Crystal leaves behind to cherish her memories sons, Jaylen Tayevon Harrison (16) and Jaxson Reed Dunham (newborn), and daughter, Wesley Sommerville (14) a distraught and devastated fiancé, Trevor Dunham; Heartbroken parents, Terry and Pamela Green – Samuel , a lone and heartbroken brother, Terell J.
