Deborah Booker
Williams
Jan 6, 1955 — Jan 15, 2026
Deborah Vernetta Booker Williams was born on January 6, 1955 in Kirbyville, Texas to the late Vernon D Booker, Sr. and Arvetta Holmes Booker. She was the second of four children born to this union. She grew up enjoying family time with her cousins and siblings, but avoided the swimming hole and dreaded doing her sister's hair. Deborah was also known as Debbie or Deb by her family and friends but her favorite title was being called Mom and Nana. Debbie was married to Milton Williams, Jr and to that union, one daughter was born- Dr. Kia Cain, her favorite daughter.
She graduated from Kirbyville High School with the class 1973. She received her Bachelors Degree from Huston Tillotson and then went on to earning her Masters Degree from The University of Houston in Social Work. She was employed at the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department and after 35 years of service, she retired as a Placement Administrator.
Debbie was united with the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age in Kirbyville, Texas. After she became established in Houston, she became a member of the Truevine Missionary Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. She was an active participant in the church wearing many hats in support of the youth, choir and outreach programs. Her final church home was Fallbrook Baptist Church where she was an active member with the Women's Ministry and sung in the choir.
Debbie loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping and trying new restaurants with her daughter. Nothing could beat a good sale. She spoiled her grandchildren rotten and always showed up to support them at all of their activities. She had several "girl groups" that kept her traveling and filled her spirit with good company, insightful conversations and shared wisdom.
To know Debbie was to love her. She had a quiet strength and a heart full of kindness that touched everyone she met. Her thoughtful nature, gentle smile, and willingness to always lend a helping hand made her not just easy to love, but impossible to forget. Debbie lived her life with grace, humility, and a deep compassion for others. Whether she was offering a listening ear, sharing a kind word, or simply being present when someone needed her most, she gave of herself freely and without hesitation. Her warmth radiated in her relationships, as she created a sense of home and comfort wherever she went. People felt seen, heard, and valued in her presence. That was her gift. Debbie's spirit lives on in the lives she touched. Her legacy is one of love, quiet strength, and enduring kindness, and in that, she will never truly be gone.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Vernon, Sr., her mother, Arvetta, and her brother Vernon, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Dr. Kia Chevon Cain of Atascocita, Tx, son-in-law, Terrance Cain; six grandchildren, Mya, Ava, Zoe, Kai, Kollin and Tristan; siblings, Dr. Jennifer Butcher and Kenneth Booker of Kirbyville, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
