Delmestrice
Joyce
Aug 8, 1961 — Mar 2, 2026
DELMESTRICE DENISE JOYCE, 64, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was born on November 8, 1961, in Silsbee, Texas, to the late Dorothy Richard Monson and Eddie Lee Joyce, Jr.
Delmestrice was a proud 1980 graduate of Silsbee High School. She continued her education at Lamar University, majoring in Psychology, and Lamar Institute of Technology, where she studied Occupational Health and Safety. Delmestrice was united in marriage to Lionel E. Young, Sr., for over 15 years. Throughout her life, she dedicated more than 20 years to working in the healthcare industry. She also served her community through her work with the State of Texas and the Silsbee Police Department.
Delmestrice had a deep love for cooking, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family. She was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need. Her kitchen was often a place where family and friends gathered, enjoying the meals she lovingly prepared. She will always be remembered for her strong character, honesty, and fearless nature, never hesitating to speak her mind and stand firmly for what she believed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Taboris Joyce, and his wife, (Samantha) of Bon Wier, Texas; daughter, Abhijett Joyce of Silsbee, Texas; and beloved grandchildren, Ahy'Rhiana, Taboris Jr., and Ulexiuss.
She is also survived by her siblings, Monquite Moore of Silsbee, Texas, Daffert Moore and Eric Monson of Silsbee, Texas, and Anthony Moore of Houston, Texas. She also leaves behind her aunts, Lele Hitchens (Estus) and Corine Baltrip (Raymond), along with many other extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Delmestrice was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Richard Monson; father, Eddie Lee Joyce, Jr.; grandparents, Beulah and Eddie Lee Joyce, Sr.; and brothers, Willie Monson and Philbrick Hill, Sr.
A very special thanks to Camryn Chatelain and Candace Simmons for being the eyes and ears in between the times we were at work. Her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew.
