Delton Charles Smith was born January 18, 1956 to L.B. and Christine Smith in Newton, Texas. He departed this life on January 31, 2020.

Raised in a Christian home, Delton accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Liberty Baptist Church. He later united with the Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Terry K. Anderson.

A proud Newton High Eagle, he graduated with the Class of 1974. He continued his education at Texas Southern University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. Smith and Christine Smith Carhee; his paternal and maternal grandparents; his beloved in-laws; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a devoted wife of forty-one years, Shelia Kellum Smith; Daughter, Dr. Deltra Muoki (Allan); Grandchildren, Alana, Grayson, and Lexi Muoki; Brother, Terry Smith; In-laws, Bailey Wagner, Michael Kellum (Jackie), Dennis Kellum, Bonita Gosey (Ronnie), Lisa Lynn (Curtis), and Stephanie Canady (Rob) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at the First United Methodist Church, 300 High St., Newton, Texas. Viewing will be 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Shankleville Community Cemetery in Newton, Texas under the direction of Coleman's Mortuary in Jasper, TX.
