Dorothy Ray
Williams
Jun 9, 1951 — Jul 18, 2022
Spring
Dorothy Ray Williams was born to Sam Williams, Sr., and Lula Lee Williams on June 9, 1951, in Pineland, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member at the Church of God in Shankleville, Texas, under the pastorship of Reverend Moore and Bro. R.C. Strahan. She served as Sunday School secretary and held other duties until she finished school and went to college. She was also a loyal member at St. Agnes Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, as a choir member and nursing ministry. During the latter part of her life journey, she was a member of Church Without Walls in Houston, Texas, where she also served in the nursing ministry.
Dorothy attended and graduated from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, where she received her bachelor's degree as a registered nurse. She was very loyal and dedicated to her profession. During her professional tenure, she was employed at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Herman Memorial Hospital, H.C.P.C., The Harris County Center for Mental Health, and as medical nursing director of a home healthcare facility for the disabled. She retired when her health failed. Dorothy was not just a nurse professionally—she was always willing to serve others, especially her family and friends. Dorothy loved to take her cruise ship vacations every other year for about 30 years with family and friends. She was a very generous person in helping others. Her first priority was her only son, Donovan Williams, who she loved dearly.
On July 18, 2022, at 4:30 PM, Dorothy made her transition to glory surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lula Williams, and her brother, Sam Williams, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Donovan Williams; sisters, Delvin Chatman (Kenneth) of Spring, Texas, and Cheryl Lewis (John) and Gretta R. Williams, both of Shankleville, Texas; brothers, Tommy Williams (Terrie) of Aiken, South Carolina, and Charles Williams (Sonnier), Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
II Timothy 4:7-8
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteous, which the Lord, the righteous judge will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. "
