Obituary

Dredson Ardene Spikes, Sr., a man of unwavering integrity, boundless warmth, and quiet strength. He left this world on April 1, 2025, at the age of 77. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Dredson's life was a testament to faith, hard work, and the enduring power of love.

A Man of Principle and Joy

Dredson lived by a simple yet profound code: family first, honesty always, and a handshake as solid as his word. Known for his quick wit and infectious laugh, he could light up any room—whether sharing stories on the porch, tending to his garden, or offering sage advice with a twinkle in his eye. A man of action, he found purpose in labor, whether working the land, raising livestock, or building fences with his own hands. His green thumb was legendary, but his patience—with both plants and people—was even more so. Above all, he cherished his role as a protector and guide to his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Alexander Floyd Spikes Sr., who he now joins in eternal rest. He is survived by: his wife, Regina Chargois-Spikes, who brought joy to his later years after the passing of his first love, Laverne Sunshine Spikes. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Maria (Tony) Williams, Dredson Jr. (Lucy) Spikes, and Cornelius (Terry) Spikes; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 9 siblings; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were family
in his heart.

A Life Rooted in Faith and Service

Dredson's strong faith was the foundation of his life. He served faithfully as an usher at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in his earlier years and later at Word of Faith Christian Center, where he welcomed congregants with his characteristic warmth and dignity. His hands were rarely still—whether nurturing crops, casting a fishing line, raising them in worship, or extending them in service to others. His faith was his compass, often reminding loved ones to "keep your hand in the Lord's hand" and trusting that all would unfold "if the Lord be willing." He found peace in the outdoors, where hunting, fishing, and the rhythm of the seasons grounded him. His home was a place of abundance—both in harvest and in heart.

A Farewell Fit for a Patriarch

Dredson Ardene Spikes, Sr. leaves behind more than memories—he leaves a blueprint for living with love, loyalty, and laughter. Though he has laid down his earthly tools, the seeds he planted—in soil and in souls—will flourish for generations to come.

"His Lord said unto him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.'" -Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
