Obituary

On Monday, October 11, 2021, our Lord and Savior called our beloved Ester Lee Bonham Bean from labor to reward.

Ester was born on December 20, 1941, in Newton, Texas to the late Willie H. Bonham and Suda Mae Rogers Bonham. Ester confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.C. Redd. She later joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T.J. Harris, where she continued to serve under the current leadership of Pastor Lynn P. Hadnot. Ester was a dedicated, faithful, and passionate Sunday School teacher, Mission's Department worker, Church Secretary, Youth Matron, Pastor's Aide President and church choir member until her health declined.

Upon graduating from Kerr High School, she attended beauty college in Tyler, Texas where she studied cosmetology. She was later employed by Coleman's Mortuary. Following Coleman's, Ester was employed by Newton County Hospital and subsequently she was employed by Continental Telephone Company (which later became Contel Telephone) until she became ill and could no longer work.

Ester met and married Clyde Haskell, and from this union two sons were born, Patrick Haskell and Paul Haskell. Ester later married Earl Walker, and to this union one son, Carlo Walker, was born. She later married Willie D. Bean.

Ester loved to cook and bake. She was also blessed with the gift of hospitality. She was affectionate, loved company, and talking on the phone. She also loved a beautiful yard, and she really loved the Newton community.

Loved ones left to cherish Ester's memories are her sons, Rev. Patrick Haskell, currently of Houston, TX; Eld. Paul Haskell (Robin) of Menifee, CA; and, Dr. Carlo Walker of Houston, TX; grandsons, Clarence Alexander, Jeremy Haskell, and Brandon Thompson; granddaughters, Patia Haskell, TeQuetia Haskell, Alexis Haskell Miller (Guy), and Shalihya Haskell; five great grandsons and two great granddaughters; sisters, Minnie B.
