Evelyn Marie was born July 23, 1955, to Mr. JB and Opal Barlow of Magnolia Springs, Texas. Evelyn Cheatham married David Cheatham, Sr., and to this union, three children were born. One of those children preceded her in death, David Cheatham, Jr. Five siblings also preceded her in death, Jay Alfred, Glenn Barlow (Jennie), Littie Kelly, Ida Gilbert, Herman Barlow (Linda), and brother-in-law, Vandie Smith, Sr.

Sister Evelyn loved her family and labored at various jobs over the years. She attended Charles Mason Bible College, where she obtained an Associates Degree. She was the Group Home Manager at the Burke Center in Kirbyville, Texas. Sister Evelyn was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was a faithful member of New Lighthouse COGIC under the direction of Walter Diggles, Sr. She was the family prayer warrior, and she had a smile that would brighten up any room. Evelyn was a faithful servant to the Lord as well as her church family. She was loved by everyone who knew her.

Sister Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Dejuan Cheatham, Sr., (Katrina) and Kendall Cheatham; four sisters, Mander Barlow, Mary Woods, Joyce Ethridge (Sonny), and Mytha Smith (Vandie); one brother, Herbert Barlow, Sr. (Linda);  ve grandchildren, Jaden Johnson, Trinity Cheatham, Sanaa Cheatham, Brysan Cheatham, and Dejuan Jr.; special granddaughter, Aryanna Sanders; great-grandsons, Ja'Tarrence and Da'Kyron Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
