Evelyn Grant was born to Johnny and Rachel Hadnot Grant on April 7, 1949, in Jasper, Texas, who preceded her in death. She was one of eight children. Her siblings, Chester and Jimmy, preceded her in death. She grew up in Jasper, Texas, and at an early age, she attended Christ Holy Sanctified Church in South Quarters and later Gilgal Baptist Church in the Gilgal Community. Evelyn graduated from the J. H. Rowe High School, Class of 1967.

Evelyn believed in God, and during her tenure in the Nursing Rehabilitation centers, she would faithfully attend church services.

Evelyn was a loving and kind mother and was preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Marie.

She leaves to cherish in her memories: her supportive and kind daughter, Melissa Grant; and son, Alvin Grant. She also leaves to cherish: sisters, Mary Ann Porter, Johnnie Mae Jones (Wendell), Sarah Johnson, along with brothers, Ricky Grant and Stacy Grant; sisters-
in-law, Debra Grant and Gloria Grant; also uncle, Hubert Hadnot; aunts, Lottie Pegues and Linda Barlow; granddaughters, Angelica Limbrick (Carter), Ashli Thames, and Marquisha Limbrick; special nieces, Rachel Limbrick, Susan Limbrick, Kendra Jones, and Tamara Levette; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
