Evie Adline Howard was born May 24, 1931, to George Howard Sr. and Pearl Lee Howard in Rock Hill. She met and married Leroy Smith and to this union 4 kids were born.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Matron, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher. She also sang with a special group The Spiritualettes for 18 years.

She later met and married Rev. John P. Kelley Pastor of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Evie worked in housekeeping for many years. Outside of work she enjoyed serving in her Christian capacities as well as spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents George Howard, Sr. and Pearl Lee Howard; two husbands, Leroy Smith and Rev J.P. Kelley; two sons, Dennis Smith and Lewis Smith; two daughters Miran Smith and Debra Ford; one grandchild Derrick Smith; one great-grandchild, Melvin Miles Jr; five brothers. George Jr, Ezra Lee, Norris, Richard, J.C Howard; three sisters, Dorothy Farr, Fannie Mae Oliver, and Cindy Seastrunk.

Evie leaves her wonderful memory to: one brother, Jimmy Lee Howard (Madonna) Canada; four bonus children, John Kelley, Shun Wiltz, Patricia Harding (James), Belinda Collins (Edmond). She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews and other relatives.
