Girthie Louise Freeman was the fifth child of eight born to the late Robert and Mozell Freeman on November 4, 1952, in Newton, Texas. She devoted her life to God early in life and was a member of Liberty Chapel Christ Sanctified Holy Church in Newton, Texas, under the leadership of Reverend Clyde Ray Davis, Sr. She attended school in Newton, Texas, and went on to receive her nursing degree at Angelina College, Lufkin, Texas.
