A Time to Be Born
The life of a jewel began October 3, 1940. Idella Rigsby was born in Tyler County, Texas to Daniel Richard Rigsby and Mary (Mae) Lee Hadnot. Idella was the second of four children. She was afforded her primary and secondary education through the Tyler County Educational System.
A Time to Die
Affectionately called "Della," she died to herself, making Christ her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age, uniting with New Shady Grove Baptist Church. She later united with New Pilgrim Baptist Church as a young adult where she served faithfully until moving to Jasper, Texas. Upon moving to Jasper, Idella joined Adams Chapel True Light Holiness Church, Inc. where she served faithfully until her passing.
A Time to Plant
Idella planted new roots by joining in holy matrimony to L.D. Bean. To this union, three children were born: Eddie Lawrence Bean, Tanice Marie Bean, and Carolyn Denise Bean Bryant. She later married and remarried Deacon Bobby R. Day whom she remained married to until his death.
A Time to Embrace
"Granny", as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, other children, and adults all over the community was devoted to her children, family, and church. She would often say, "My children are my life." She spent every day proving it. No one was ever turned away when in need of a place to stay or food to eat. She helped to rear quite a few babies, as she cared for many children in the community. She was a wealth of love, warmth, wisdom and honesty. She was also quite witty and people often marveled at her ability to listen when they felt the need to talk. Idella served faithfully in her church and held many positions and duties, such as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, District Missionary, Evangelist, and Mother Counsel of the Church. She dedicated her life to Christ and was an example of "holiness." She was also a member of the renowned gospel singing group , "The Glorious Bells" who were known throughout Southeast Texas and parts of Louisiana.
A Time to Mourn
The beautiful jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Mary Lee Rigsby; her husband, Deacon Bobby Day; her brother, Leo Rigsby; her stepsister, Maurine Rigsby Jones; her son, Eddie Bean; her son-in-law, Donald Bryant, her daughter-in-law, Linda Bean, and her grandson, Darius Bean.
She departed this life on February 9, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Evie Siggers and L.V. Rasberry of Jasper, Texas; two daughters, Tanice Bean and Carolyn Bryant of Jasper, Texas; stepson, Robert Kenebrew of Dallas,Texas; eight grandchildren, Tamara, Kendric (Johnnetta), Tefanie (Larry), Shemika, Andre (Jackie), Jaimoy (Vanessa), Terrance (Candace), and Edwin; godson, Apostle Tony Terrell; goddaughters, Ola Jean McDonald, Littlene Adams, and Mearl Good; best friend, Ola Joseph; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, "grandchildren'', family, and friends.
