Obituary

Janice Gail Johnson McBride was born on June 5, 1952 to the late B. Johnson and Edith Seatonrook Johnson in Pineland, Texas. From an early age, Janice was devoted to her faith. She was a faithful member of Mount Hope Baptist Church in the Shankleville community, later joining the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to decline.

Janice was a proud graduate of Brookeland High School. She was the salutatorian of the class of 1970. She attended the Massey Business College in 1971. Later she moved to Jasper and entered the Nursing School at Jasper Memorial Hospital School of Vocational Nursing from 1979 to 1980. She worked for over 20 years as an OB nurse, where her passion for children flourished both in her career and personal life. Though she retired, her commitment to caring for others never wavered and she continued to offer support and kindness in every way she could.

After moving to Jasper, Janice united with the father of her four children, George Hunt Jr. They shared four children together: Rodney Keith, Ramona Damien, Grand Chadwick and Natasha Shunna.

In 1988, Janice married Jimmy Lee McBride, with whom she gained two bonus children: Jennie Eugene (Audry) McBride, Lillian (Benjamin) Holmes. Together, Janice and Jimmy Lee were a united blended family. They also had one child together: Rodney Keith, Ramona Damien, Grand Chadwick and Natasha Shunna.

Janice was preceded in life by her husband, Jimmy Lee McBride, with whom she shared 38 wonderful years, as well as her parents, B. E. and Edith Johnson; her mother and father-in-law, Walter and Lillie Wanda McBride; her children, Ramona Damien, Jr. and Grand Walter. She also preceded in death by her siblings: Fanchez Sandifer, L. B. Jr., Patricia Frey, Virginia Daniels, Patricia Seatonrook and Lula Seatonrook.

She leaves to cherish everlasting memories her devoted children: Rodney Keith, Natasha Shunna (Jessie), Jennie Eugene (Audry), Lillian (Benjamin), cousins (Linda) Henderson, Rosa Johnson (Mae Ola), Bridgett Scott, Ronald Johnson, Greg Johnson, nieces and nephews: Sandra Calhoun Johnson (James), Patricia Johnson (Lisa), Thomas Johnson (Mae Ola), great grandchildren, cousins, church members, colleagues, and many others. Janice also knew that a mother's love is a never-ending blessing. Her unconditional love and unwavering faith will forever remain in our hearts and minds.
