Jeffery "Duke"
Reed Jr.
Jul 1, 1945 — Nov 27, 2021
Jasper
Jeffery Reed, Jr., was born to Jeffery Reed, Sr., and Hortence Reed on August 23, 1948, in Jasper, Texas. He attended the Jasper Independent School District and then started to work at a young child. At the age of 16 "Duke" was so eager to work. He always worked hard at anything he did. He was employed with many log companies such as Sammie Williams Logging Company, Harrison Sells Logging, and Connie Thomas Logging Company. "Duke" was known by many and was known to be very active until his health failed. Then, he focused on enjoying his family, good food, and sitting on the porch waiting for a friendly face to come by. And he never met a stranger. He love cowboy attire and doing outdoors sports such as hunting and fishing, and he loved taking long rides with anyone that came to pick him up. He also loved a game of Dominos and riding four-wheelers, thinking he's a black cowboy. In August 22, 1981, he met and married Lesia Mae Adams-Reed. To that union they had four children, and they gained one bonus daughter. He had eight grandchildren and one great-grand. "Duke's" life speaks volumes for itself; he was an Outlaw all by himself.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Reed, Sr.; mother, Hortence Reed; and sister, Gloria Mays.
He leaves to cherish his memory: loving children and devoted children's mother, Lesia Mae Adams-Reed, Felicia Simmons, Carlos Reed, Martin Earl Reed, Kayla Reed-Gothe (Edward), and Jeffery "Shane" Reed; siblings, Harold Reed, Leon Reed (Doris), and Bobby Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
