Jerry Lane Runnels, Sr., was born July 3, 1962, in Jasper, Texas, to the late Carrie Runnels. He grew up in Houston, Texas, and later moved back to Jasper, where he attended Jasper High School.

Jerry was united in marriage to Felicia White. To this union, one child was born.

Jerry was a good-hearted man who loved his family. He never had much to say, but his smile said it all.

He worked for Gee Shipman Pharmacy for many years. He worked for the Glenn family for many years as well. He was a hard worker.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Carrie Runnels Spikes, and grandfather, Auther Runnels, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Jerry Runnels, Jr.; brother, Kenneth Runnels, Sr., of Longview, TX; his aunt, Galatha Bailey of Jasper, TX; his uncle, Charles Melvin Runnels, Sr., of Houston, TX; nephews, Jeremy Brooks of Tyler, TX, and Kenneth Runnels, Jr., of West Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
