Obituary

Jerry McBride was born on October 5, 1959, to Hardy and Evie
McBride, in Wiergate, Texas.
Jerry was a devoted father, grandfather, son and brother and joy to
anyone he met.
Jerry began his schooling at Burkeville Junior Senior High School,
where he graduated with the Class of 1977, and then enlisted in the
U.S. Army. On October 6, 1980, Jerry married the love of his life,
Delouse. To this union two children were born, Katrina and Jerry
Jr. Jerry continued his career in the army until he was honorably
discharged. Shortly after returning home, he started his career with
Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville, Texas in 1985.
He continued working in the Huntsville area for a couple years until he
had the opportunity to return closer to his hometown in 1990 to start
at the Gib Lewis Unit and later the Goodman Unit, where he retired
after 25 years of service. Jerry loved God, family, and friends more, so
that in November 2010 answered his calling from God and became
certified and began preaching at Christ Sanctified Holy Church in
Jamestown under the direction of the late Bishop Dr. Joseph Palmer.
He continued presiding over the church for 16 years until his health
began to fail.
His grandchildren, family, and community were the center of his life.
He was a man of few words and couple of jokes, and ending every slogan
or comment with "One Love." He had a knack for giving a nickname
to everyone he met. He loved hunting and fishing, scrolling through
social media, and preaching the gospel of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evie and Hardy McBride;
and siblings, Patrick McBride Priestly and Curtis McBride
