Obituary

Joe Ann Williams passed away on March 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She lived with grace, warmth, and a vibrant spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Joe Ann was born October 13, 1960, in Jasper, Texas, to Oneal and Maddie Booker. Raised in the Farrisville Community of Newton County, Texas, she was the youngest of eight children. Rooted in faith from childhood, Joe Ann accepted Christ as her personal Savior early in life and carried that faith with her always. She had a deep love for theology, often reflecting on faith, meaning, and the beauty of God's creation — something she found in the sky, in nature, and in the delicate care of her beloved orchids.

She graduated from Jasper High in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Houston. Joe Ann built a remarkable 45-year career with the Internal Revenue Service, where she was known for her intelligence, humor, and ability to make others feel at ease. She brought lightness to every room and left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Joe Ann lived joyfully and creatively. The beach was her happy place, and she loved to travel, read, dream, and spend time in nature. She never met a stranger and had a special gift for "adopting" people, welcoming them with kindness, encouragement, and love. Her generosity, laughter, and gentle wisdom made others feel seen and cared for.

Joe Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Maddie Booker; and her oldest brother, Jefferson Ravon Booker. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Horace "Tony" Williams; and two daughters, Brittany and Kelly Williams; four brothers, Joe Neal (Barbara), Bobby, Donald Ray (Betty), Louis; and two sisters, Dorothy (Gussie) and Brenda (Audrey); along with a large host of nieces, nephews, close cousins, very dear friends, colleagues, and coworkers who will miss her deeply.

Joe Ann's legacy is one of faith, compassion, curiosity, and love — a life beautifully lived and shared with others.

The family sincerely thanks you for your prayers, words of comfort, and expressions of love during this time. They also invite all who were touched by Joe Ann's life to honor her legacy by supporting cancer research and deepening your faith walk.
