The Life and Legacy of John
John Cliffton Alfred was born in Bon Wier, Texas, on July 29, 1949, to Winnie Rollins and John Alfred. He attended Biloxi and Orange Elementary and Manuel Arts High School. A talented painter and carpenter by trade, John was a man who wore his heart proudly on his sleeve. He was deeply affectionate, remarkably giving, incredibly handsome, and possessed a natural charm and charisma that drew people to him.
Above all else, John loved his family, with a special place in his heart for his children. While he wasn't a perfect man, he always took care of his family the absolute best he could. He shared his life with his loving wife, Evelyn—a beautiful, sweet, and giving woman. When they met, she had a daughter named Tamika, and together, John helped raise four wonderful children: Tamika, Deon, Chereese, and Winnie.
He was a dad full of love and thoughtful little gestures—which, as his kids fondly remember, almost always included big honeybuns!
John will be missed dearly by so many. Though he is gone, he is now resting peacefully in heaven, surrounded by loved ones who went before him. Please give our brother, Deon, a tight hug for us, Dad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winnie Alfred; sisters, Linda Forward, Brenda Adams, Carolyn Alfred, Winnonia Alfred and Stella Alfred; brothers, Carlton Alfred, Donald Alfred, Franklin Alfred, Hershell F Alfred and Frisco Alfred; and son, Deon Alfred.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
* His daughters: Chereese and Winnie Alfred; Tamika Swearingen
* His Living Siblings: Patricia and Harold Alfred
* His nieces and nephews: Kaniko, Shamara, Charles, Hassani, Eugene, Khadijah, Rico, Frank, Nicolas, Demetria, and Hershell
* A host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
John Alfred, we all love you so much and will forever treasure the memories we shared with you.
