On July 15, 1937, John Dobie Alfred was born to Elijah Alfred and Lorine Wingate-Alfred. He was one of nine children.

John united in marriage with Mittie Marie Land-Alfred on November 4, 1961. To this union 4 children were born.

John was preceded in death by his son, Dale Dewayne Alfred, and his parents, Elijah Alfred and Lorine Wingate-Alfred, and siblings, Walker Davis Alfred, Elijah Alfred, Jr., Modester Johnson, Johnny Alfred, and Joe Lee Alfred.

John Dobie "JD" Alfred departed this earthly life on February 12, 2022.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Dennis O'Neal Alfred of Kirbyville, TX, Angela Marie Farr of Missouri City, TX, and Renitha Yvette Gay (Benjamin) of Beaumont, TX; five grandchildren, Brendan LaShain, Broderick DeJuan, Niah Trichelle, Stephen O'Neal (Raveen), and Mya Marie Alfred; siblings, Odester Roseman of Kirbyville, Clint Alfred (Willie Mae) of Kirbyville, and Walter D. Alfred, Jr. (Theresa) of Newton. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
