John David Woods, Sr., also known as "Jack," was born August 15, 1947, in the community of Jamestown in Newton County, Texas, to the late Dorothy Adams Bryant.

Jack accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early at the Iron Wheel Baptist Church.

Jack's early education begin at Jamestown Elementary. He was a graduate of Wiergate High School, Class of 1960. He moved to Lubbock, Texas, and then to Dallas, Texas, where he retired with the Dallas Independent School District. He later re-entered the work world of one of the largest groceries store chains in the area, Safeway. Jack was a people's person and never met a stranger. He enjoyed his time there and would often share stories of great memories about the people he met.

He later retired a second time after many years of service. Jack enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and spending time with family.

He was preceded by his mother, Dorothy Adams Bryant; wife, Ann Woods; and son, Antonio Woods.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory: his son, John Jr.; sister, Patsy Sylvester (Arthur); grandchildren, Zaria Champion Woods, Adrian Woods and Antonio Woods Jr and a host of other grandchildren, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
