Joyce
Andrews
Jan 18, 1942 — Jan 18, 2021
Beaumont
Joyce Andrews was born into time on January 18, 1942, and stepped into eternity on January 18, 2021. She was born to the union of Ora Lee and Randolph Johnson, Sr. She attended the local schools in Beaumont and was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Charlton-Pollard High School.
She met and married Ben E. Andrews. To this union, five children were born. Her husband a member of the U.S. Army, was stationed in Fairbanks, AK for a time. While watching Dr. Billy Graham on television. She accepted Christ as her Savior. She then joined the St. John Baptist Church there in Fairbanks.
The family returned to Beaumont and, in May of 1974, her husband accepted the call to the ministry. Joyce initially thought that she was not prepared for the job of being a minister's wife and she told her husband just that, saying, "I told you that I didn't want no preacher." However, the Lord had a different idea. Minister Joyce Andrews threw herself into the work of the Kingdom and become the kind of wife any minister would want. She was not only an exceptional wife, but also the epitome of what God intended for women to be. She tirelessly led many young women into the service of our Lord through her extraordinary example.
Upon their return to Beaumont, the family joined Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor D.C. Coney. They served there faithfully until they were called to Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where her husband became the pastor. In June of 1989, they answered the call of the Lord once again and established The Holy Bible Faith Center, where she served faithfully until the Lord called her home.
Minister Andrews began teaching Bible classes in 1975, while serving at Mount Sinai. She developed an unyielding interest in the biblical African Nation in Egypt. In 1998, she discovered, while reading the 19th and 20th chapters of the Book of Isaiah, that the complete destiny of the Black race is recognized in the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel by divine inspiration of these Old Testament prophets.
Her study and research for more than four years finalized the completion of her book Bible Legacy of the Black Race: The Prophecy Fulfilled. She also wrote The Lost Legacy of Ham, and most recently the book You Are A Star Right Where You Are. Her research and thirst for knowledge inspired her television show, You Are Star A Star Right Where You Are, which aired on Channel 6 in Beaumont on Sunday mornings at 6:30.
Minister Andrews was an acclaimed Bible scholar and noted author who lectured extensively. She was an ordained minister, Bible teacher, and church pianist. She was well respected in the Christian community and her absence will be felt for years to come. She taught weekly Bible Classes at the church, including the class on the book of the Revelation. With all her Kingdom work, she still found time to be a loving and supportive wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. Along with her many duties and responsibilities, she pursed a higher education, completing her Master's Degree in Theology and her Doctorate in Divinity.
Sister Andrews is preceded in death by her sons, Ben E. Andrews, Jr., and Cousy Andrews, and two brothers, Norris Jackson and Randolph Johnson, Jr.
Those left to forever to cherish her memory are: her husband, Pastor Dr. Ben E. Andrews; daughters, Dana Andrews, Jocely Andrews-Tukes (Anthony), and Denae Andrews; brother, Roney Johnson; sister, Minnie Johnson; granddaughter, Michaela Tukes; her cherished church family; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. I Thessalonians 4: 13-14 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope, For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
