J.P. Smith was born on December 26, 1937, in Jasper, Texas to his loving parents, Angris and OLena Smith, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from J.H. Rowe and later became a truck driver, an occupation he enjoyed until his retirement.

J.P. enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with family and friends.

He was a faithful member of Living Word Worship Center until his health declined. He enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart on TV.

J.P. leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Pearl, his children, grandkids, great-grandkids, siblings, and a host of family and friends.
