Obituary

Keith Howard King was born November 18, 1951, to Carolyn Mary Lee Bryant and U.C. King.Keith was known by his middle name Howard through his younger years. He graduated from Wiergate High School in May 1969. During his high school years, he participated in numerous events such as basketball, track, band, choir, Future Farmers of America, and he excelled in tennis under the coaching of Mr. David Snell. Keith competed in several tennis tournaments, winning many to include 2nd place at Prairie View A&M University.

Upon graduating, Keith was accepted at Prairie View A&M, where he majored in social services with a minor in business management. Keith's tenure there was cut short during the very beginning of his sophomore year, where he was critically injured in a car accident early one Sunday morning. What a devastating moment for parents to receive a phone call from Ben Taub Hospital Emergency Room in Houston, Texas, stating he suffered a broken neck and was paralyzed. There's nothing in life that prepares parents for such devastating news that your son will never walk again. Keith spent two long years in the hospital and the Texas Rehabilitation Center. The medical staff was rehabilitating him to endure a life that would confine him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. We're here to say that medical science got it wrong. What is impossible with men is possible with God. Keith returned
to college defying the odds, graduating, and excelling in his profession as a Case Worker for both Newton and Jasper County Health Services for over twenty years. After his tenure there he worked under the umbrella of Compro Tax as a tax accountant receiving many prestigious accolades. He later branched off establishing his own business venture, Keith King and Associates. Other work ventures included selling ING insurance, home mortgages, and being a member of Burkeville School Board and a member of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce.

Many of you may not know Keith was a self-taught guitarist, a very competitive chess player, and a lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Keith's life was an inspiration to many as he overcame challenges with faith and determination. He left a lasting impression on those he met. The greatest accomplishment of Keiths life was being baptized into the Church of Christ as a teenager.

As his health declined, he moved from the limelight of life to requiring daily assistance. His mother and his brother were his greatest cheerleaders. They attended to his many needs. Keith always gave you a hearty thank you for whatever support you provided. He was very generous with his love; Keith is an individual that you will always have fond memories of.

Many thanks go out to the West Side Church of Christ for being Christian servants to Keith enhancing his faith every Sunday as they fellowshipped with him by his bedside. There is no greater love.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, U.C. King Sr., and Carolyn Mary L. Bryant King.

Keith leaves to cherish his memory: two brothers and three sisters, U.C. King, Jr. (Natalie), Brenda Small (Herman), Beverly Perkins (Roy), La Verne W. King, and Lola King; two adoring aunts, Gwendolyn Harrison (Hiram), and Erma Juniel; and a beautiful host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
