Laverne Beatty
Hadnot
Nov 18, 1929 — Jan 25, 2025
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for this name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." (Psalm 23:1-6)
Our dear mother, Laverne Beatty Hadnot, passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 95. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She dedicated her life to her family and home. Laverne was born in Jasper, Texas, to parents, Oscar Beatty and Mary Jessie Beatty. She was the sixth born of 13 children.
At an early age in life, she acknowledged and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior, and she was determined to be a light in her home and community. Laverne loved the Lord. As the matriarch of her family, Laverne exemplified strength and grace. She was the glue that held her family together, providing unwavering support and guidance through the years. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, warmth and the smell of her famous home-cooked meals. Family gatherings at her table were a cherished tradition, where stories were shared, bonds were strengthened and love was nurtured.
In her later years, Laverne relocated from Jasper, Texas, to her daughter Charlotte's home in Houston, Texas, where she was embraced with love and care. Surrounded by her daughter, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and her dear son-in-law, she found great joy in sharing stories, laughter and precious memories with those she held dear. For more than 15 years, her presence filled every room with warmth and her wisdom and kindness remained a guiding light to all who knew her. These years were a beautiful chapter of love, comfort and treasured memories that will forever be missed, and their home will never be the same without her. Yet, her love and sweet spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched. Laverne was joined in Holy Matrimony for over 50 years, to the love of her life, Chester Ray Hadnot in 1949; and to this union seven children were nurtured and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Jessie Beatty; husband, Chester Ray Hadnot; daughter, Billie Sue Adams; brothers, Roy Beatty, Hollis Beatty, Floyd Beatty, Ray Beatty, Oscar Beatty, Jr. and Ralph Beatty; and sisters, Faye Brooks, Dorothy Ferrell, Maggie McFarland, Cora Lee Fowler and Earline White.
Laverne leaves to cherish her memories; five sons, Dewey Fowler, Sr. (Lauren Faye), Roy Chester Hadnot (Roberta), Harlen Hadnot, Donald Hadnot (Jessie), and Oliver Hadnot (Patricia); one daughter, Charlotte Minnieweather (Edward); sister, Ramona Jackson; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
