Lillie B
Adams
Sep 13, 1934 — Apr 27, 2023
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Lillie B Stanfield was born on September 13, 1934, to Annie Bell Mays and Alton Stanfield. As a child, she attended school at J.H. Rowe in Jasper, Texas. Lillie B Stanfield married Roy Adams, Sr. in Holy Matrimony on December 1, 1951, in Jasper, Texas. For 70 years they remained devoted to one another. From this union, Roy and Lillie B had eight children: Lillie Cauley, Roy Adams Jr. (Deceased), Sampson Ray Adams (Deceased), Lesia Reed, Jenny Adams, Perry Adams, Charles Adams, Dorris Adams-Harris.
First Lady Lillie B Adams, named after her favorite flower, was a devoted homemaker, skilled hand- stitch artist, passionate religious singer and tambourine player. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and servitude. With resolute dedication and a stern yet loving demeanor, she was seasoned with grace and wisdom. She possessed great esteem for cleaning and maintaining an orderly and faith-filled home environment while facilitating peace, warmth, harmony and unwavering love.
As a mother, her steadfast commitment to God set the foundation for the family's spiritual journey. She desired a home that reflected the love and teachings of God. She provided a moral compass to help her children navigate the complexities of life while implementing discipline, correction, without sparing the rod, and the importance of prayer through the daily living of faith. She fostered her children and grandchildren by instilling the importance of education and hard work. Her intentions were always driven by the purest desire to see others thrive and incorporate faith. Lille B was quite the treat! Her wit and humor set her apart from those closest. Her clever remarks and lighthearted banter had the power to brighten even the darkest of days. With an uncanny ability to find humor in every situation, she reminded us to embrace life's joys and not take ourselves too seriously. Her laughter was infectious, spreading cheer to whomever she encountered.
The skillful talent of hand-stitch was passed down by her beloved mother Annie Bell Mays. Lillie B had a remarkable gift for hand-stitching quilts and creating detailed works of art. The beauty of creation was embraced through her artistry. She often repurposed clothing to create quilts for the family and those in need. Lillie B gifted each child with a custom quilt as they left home to embark on their future. Her quilts did not only display beauty in decor but visual hymns, telling stories of faith, cope, and love. The fabrication of her family was stitched together in God's presence. Lillie B nurtured her garden with tinder care, cultivating a beautiful array of gardenia flowers that filled the air with a heavenly aroma. The garden became a sacred space of deep connection to God's creation and a respite from the challenges of life for her and her husband. They often bonded in the garden where many crops flourished, often sharing in fellowship with others. She served her community by cooking hot meals and providing food.
As a wife, Lillie B was a pillar of strength and support for her husband. She stood faithfully by his side throughout the joys and challenges of life. Her love knew no bounds. First Lady Lillie B Adams was a shining example of grace and dignity, providing constant support to her husband and church family. For over 50 years, she was devoted to not only her husband but her church families both at Huntington True Light Holiness Church in Huntington, TX, and at Warren Temple True Light Holiness Church in Lufkin, TX. Her dedication to spiritual growth and well-being of her congregation was evident in her steady commitment to prayer, biblical teachings, and acts of service. Her relatable personality ensured the good news was shared amongst the congregation and lives were transformed. As a true worshiper, she always made a joyful noise with symbols and her favorite tambourine. First Lady Lillie B's love for music was equally remarkable, as she expressed her devotion to God through her melodic voice and skillful tambourine playing. She loved to sing, and led others in worship, using her voice to lift spirits and evoke heartfelt praise. Her tambourine added a joyful rhythm that brought smiles and celebration. Her faith in God was the cornerstone of her life and influenced every
aspect of her being.
