On November 24, 2019, Mrs. Lillie Ruth Adams went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper, Texas. Lillie was the fifth child and the third daughter born to Tom and Sadie Cheatham. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized into membership at Rose Bloom Missionary Baptist Church in the Huff Creek Community.

Lillie married Claude Adams in 1956. Lillie and her husband of 63 years joined Mr. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where they were active members. Lillie was a regular Sunday School attendee and was active in the Missions group. She was dedicated in securing the names of the sick and shut-in members at the church and reading their names for prayer.

Lillie very much enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved visiting with family and friends and sharing her delicious chicken and dumplings. There were many requests for her German Chocolate cakes, moist coconut cakes and velvery pies.

Lillie has a host of family members and friends who will remember her with love and honor. She is survived by her husband, Claude Adams; her loving sister, JoAnn Thomas of Jasper, Texas; her devoted sons, James Arthur Cheatham (JoAnn) of Richmond, Texas; their children, James (Tiffany), Jerome (Shala) and Jeff and Donald Cheatham (Betty) of Pearland, Texas children; Rodrick (Lakista), Myrtle (James), Shannon (Maia) and Brandon. She has 11 great grand and 2 great, great grandchildren. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.

She will be cherished and remembered for her soft but direct demeanor. There were many who benefitted from her advice and comfort.
