Obituary

Linda Barnes-Moore was born July 17, 1955, to Elmore "Elmo" Pittman and Geraldine Lumford in Chicago, Illinois. Linda grew up in Chicago and attended Harlan High School. Later she attended Prairie View A & M University, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Social Work. She worked for many years as a social worker specializing in mental health.

Linda's love for and her relationship with God was first and foremost in her life. Linda loved writing songs and singing for different churches; she enjoyed sharing her love of worshiping God. She was a very kind person, always willing to share what she had with other people who were in need. She loved helping the homeless and the other seniors who lived in her apartment. Linda was a good listener; you could come to her with a problem and leave feeling unburdened and at peace. Linda had a zest for life and was fun to be around. She took pleasure in the small things, the beauty of nature, good food, sitting by the pool. Linda loved education and trying new things. She studied to get her Masters of Divinity Degree, learned how to make cakes, sewing, jewelry making, and more. Linda loved her family. She had three children whom she loved dearly and who loved her dearly in return. Linda adored her grandchildren. She loved sharing her knowledge of herbs and jewelry making with her granddaughters and spending time playing in the pool with them. She enjoyed spending quality time, dancing, watching her grandsons play video games and playing with them. Linda was known for many things, but the things people will remember most about Linda was her kindness, laughter, and her big beautiful smile.

Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, Elmore Pittman and Geraldine Lumford and her two brothers, Samuel Davenport and Sylvester Mingo. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: three children. A daughter, Alisha Rawlins (Clyde), and two sons, Xavier Bennett and Marcell Barnes (Courtney). Three sisters ,Wilhelmina Pittman, Gwendolyn Lumford, and Sharon Minor. One brother, John (Sonny) Lewis. Four grandchildren, Alexandria and Skylar Rawlins and Xavier II and Xachary Bennett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
