Obituary

Louvenia Ann Galloway was born February 14, 1953, to Katherine Galloway and Carlton Lewis in Pineland, Texas, where she lived until her passing on June 18, 2025, at the beautiful age of 72.

Louvenia was 12 years old when her mother, Katherine Galloway, transitioned to her eternal home. She was raised by her maternal grandmother, Harriett Gasaway Galloway Horn. At a young age, Harriett ensured her nine grandchildren were raised in the church. She was a member of Johnson Chapel AME Church.

In her early years, Louvenia attended Bryant High School and integrated with West Sabine High School in 1966.

Being raised by her grandmother, Louvenia developed a love to care for the elderly. She retired as a healthcare worker after 20 years of service. She enjoyed her service to Mrs. Paufene Williams, Mrs. Myrtle Haley, Mrs. Rowena Weatherspoon, Mrs. Mickie Adams, Mrs. Gaynell Holman, and Mr. and Mrs. Haywood.

Louvenia was known for her bold and witty personality. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She gained many names throughout her years—"Red," "Lou," "Vee"—and often called herself "Ann" when introducing herself to others.

Her favorite pastimes were family gatherings, dominos, cards, and watching Westerns and The Price Is Right.

Louvenia was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Galloway and Carlton Lewis; grandparents, Harriett Gasaway Galloway Horn and Otis Galloway; brother, Benny Earl Galloway; sisters, Almedia Martin, Cassie Lewis, and Gerline Lewis; nephew, Tyrone "Boot" Galloway; aunt, Maxine Jones; and cousins, William Galloway, Lillian Galloway, and Clark Wayne Galloway.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Vanessa Johnson and Tennille (Dwight) Smith; son, Eric Dwain Galloway;
grandchildren, Jordan Galloway, Daija (Gabriel) Foster, Bailee Galloway, Zeivion "Raheem" Smith, Kaunda "Chez" Jackson, and Zion Smith;
great-grandchildren, Jordan Galloway, Jr., I'Nyah Galloway, Reality Galloway, and Gabriel Foster, Jr.; siblings, Verdie Lee White, Calvin McCray, Vivian Lee (Willie Ray) Haley, Prentis Ray (Amy) Galloway, Jackqueline (Kevin) Owens, Saprena Maze, and Alton (Tremenia) Horn; cousins, Olandra Galloway, Fredonia Galloway, Eileen Galloway, Bernard Galloway, Joyce Williams, Karen Williams, Leah Mae Adams, and Ethel Kay Williams; other siblings, Denise Weatherspoon and Teresa Weatherspoon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
