Lynell was preceded in death by his parents, Adna  and S.B. "Ike" Shankle, his wife, Elaine Corley Shankle, two brothers, John Wayne Shankle and Ulysis Shankle, one sister, Opal Adams; one great grandson, Cairo Grant. Lynell departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Jasper, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Erica Shankle, Charika Grant, Cristy (Todd) Jordan, Shaft Moore and Samuel (LaToya) Corley; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Claude (Teresa) Shankle, four sisters, Clara (Melvin) Warren, Edna (Darrell) Malvo, Bobbie Moran, Maxine Shankle; three aunts, Darnell McBride, Maci Green, Curly Jean Savoi, two special nieces, Kezia Spikes and Jessica Shankle, special friend Kathy Howard and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
