Obituary

Mable Lee McMahon was born on September 18, 1932 to the late Lee and Leona Westbrooks in Kirbyville, Texas. Mable married Elisha McMahon, Jr. on May 27, 1950. To this union, ten children were born. Mable was a dedicated baptised Jehovah's Witness; she had a deep love and appreciation for Jehovah and His standards and remained in his service for more than 34 years. She loved preaching and teaching about Jehovah to everyone she came in contact with.

Mable attended Call County Line School. After marriage, she worked at numerous places as a cook and housekeeper, but later became one of the first women day laborers at Silsbee's Kirby Sawmill in the 1960's. Mable was elected as union representative in 1973, a position she held until the mill closed down in 1986. After that, she worked for The Beaumont Enterprise and Goliad House in Beaumont, Texas for numerous years before retiring.

Mable loved sewing, baking, cooking, planting gardens, and caring for her farm animals. She enjoyed seeing her children and grandchildren at her house. Mable said she always slept best when there was a loud crowd; she was used to a house full of family and love.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Leona Westbrooks; her husband, Elisha McMahon, Jr.; one daughter, Gwendolyn Elam; one grandson, Cleyon McMahon; seven brothers, a set of twin boys who died at birth, Booker (Bo) Westbrooks, Cecil Westbrooks, Riley Westbrooks, Walter (Gene) Westbrooks, and Paul Westbrooks; two sisters, Ida Gaines and Laverne Cleaver.
