Mary Melissa Grant Beatty was born December 31,1966, in Jasper, Texas, to the late Calvin Grant, Sr., and Mary Ella Brown Grant. She attended Jasper High School for many years. She met and married the love of her life and soul mate, Johnny Ray Beatty. To this union, two children were born, Johnathan and Latasha.

Mary Melissa worked as a cook for serval restaurant which as her passion. She loved that people enjoyed her food.
She was a great cook. She could throw something tasty together at the drop of a dime. She loved to sing karaoke, dance, and entertain. She was always the life of the party at family events. She enjoyed most spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary Melissa never met a stranger. She could make you mad and make you smile at the same time. She was truly a people's person and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.She departed this life on July 29, 2023.

Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Mary Grant; husband, Johnny Ray Beatty; and siblings, Melvin "Dirt" Grant, Calvin "Coon" Grant Jr., Ervin Grant, Auther Lee "Hamburger" Grant, Johnny Grant, Curtis Ray "Hoggy" Brenda Grant Mays, and Mammie Warren.

Mary Melissa leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Latasha Beatty (Jarrell); one son, Johnathan Beatty; two step-children, Yolanda Cauley and Johnny Bronson; one sister, Debbie Grant (Theodo) and one brother, James "Champ" Grant (Faye); grandchildren Johnathan Jr.; D'quincy, Ja'Braylen, Ja'Kiah, Jalayah, Jahking, Jaxson, Shalayah, Kee'auntae, Taire, Raven and Kiara and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
