Mary Lee
King
Oct 30, 1931 — Jul 23, 2020
Wiergate
Carolyn Mary Lee Bryant King was born October 30, 1931 to Adam Bryant Sr. and Elouise Thomas Bryant. She was also lovingly called by family and friends as Mrs. King, Mary, Mary Lee, Mother, Momma, NaNa , and Grandma Mary. To our dad she was either acknowledged as Hon or Wife.
Mary was a graduate of Wiergate High School. She was united in marriage to U. C. King Sr. in 1954. To this union six children were born.
Mary was baptized into The Church of Christ during a yearly revival in 1958. She has faithfully served as a loving servant as commanded by God, to all Christians "Love Thy Neighbor". Mary King followed these instructions as God has given. She was the virtuous woman you read about in Proverbs. She guided her home with integrity, dignity, discipline, and so much more. She made the life of her husband better, taught her children to live a life of value, morality and respect, but most importantly she taught them and showed them by example to live the life of a Christian.
Mary welcomed all who visited their home to share a meal. Her hamburgers and fish dinners were among the favorite. Mary, also shared her time with her community serving as a poll worker during voting season. When asked by a newly hired educator to the community to be the care provider for her infant, she accepted without hesitation. This lead to her becoming an in home day care for the children of local educators and administrators. She was loved by the children and their parents. Mary greatly blessed them with her warm loving, and affectionate attention in return.
Mary would later work as a teacher' assistant in the Burkeville Independent School District. From there she transitioned to the Newton County Appraisal Office while earning her degree on the weekends. In this job, as well as all others Mary was highly respected by her coworkers and the customers she served. Everyone was greeted with a smile and their days were brighten. Her retirement was something to behold. The local community, and her friends as well as family attended to pay their respect and to let her know she was truly appreciated.
Throughout Mary's life she has served as a loving caregiver of many family members. Her home no matter what the situation or occasion was a home of love, peace and joy. The doors were always open to anyone and everyone.
On the evening of July 23, 2020 at sunset…Mary was called by the Father to Eternal Rest. Her spirit and her soul obeyed the call of God. Her soul traveled to Paradise a resting place prepared by God. What a joyful greeting it was. She smiled! She gave thanks for she knew she was almost "Home." Can you hear her say "THANK YOU LORD, THANK YOU JESUS FOR LOVING ME."
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Elouise Bryant; husband U C King Sr; sister Emma Lee Roberts; brothers Willie L Bryant, Jerry T Bryant, Adam Bryant Jr., Mac Arthur Bryant, and great grandson Maurice Brunson.
