Wiergate
Maxine Fowler was born on November 22, 1940, to the late Arthur Boyd Steel and Verlie Etta Steel. Maxine was one of eight children, five of whom preceded her in death.
Family was the pivotal essence of Maxine's life. Maxine met her husband and best friend of 65 years, Jimmie Fowler, Sr., during their childhood. Maxine had a major presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maxine was passionate and proud of all her family.
Maxine was an active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Maxine humbly served as an usher until her health began to fade.
Maxine had a long-standing relationship with God and believed in the power of prayer. Maxine left a permanent mark etched into our hearts.
Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmie "Snowball" Fowler; parents, Arthur and Verlie Steel; and siblings, Herman Steel, James Steel, Manuel Steel, Freddie Steel, and Norman Steel.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved sisters, Frankie Lee World (John) and Irma Jean World, both of Newton, TX; Jimmie Fowler, Jr., Regina Afenkhena, Rita Fowler, Sharon Fowler, Tina Bias (Lester Jr.), and Janitra "Neat" Fowler; grandchildren, Ebony Fowler, Edmone Fowler (Shanise), Ashley Young (Jousha), Octavia Spikes, Jeremy Fowler, Jacobie Fowler, Hope Fowler, and Journee Fowler; five great-grandchildren, Avery Carroll, Kasen Carroll, Zoey Young, Edmone Fowler, Jr., and Olivia Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
