Melinda Darlene McQueen was born in Jasper, Texas, to Stanley Harris and Mertha Hadnot Harris. She attended school in Jasper and graduated from Jasper High School. She was blessed to meet Damon McQueen, and they were married in 1990.

Melinda worked multiple jobs throughout her life ending in the childcare field as a private nanny. Outside of work, she loved to travel the world. Melinda was a very creative person. You could always find her taking on a DIY project. She also loved listening to music and dancing. Melinda loved the Lord and was a member of the Jasper Circuit Memorial Church for many years.

On June 10, 2023, she was called home to be with the Lord. Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Mertha Harris; and two brothers, Danny Harris and Paul Harris.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her loving husband, Damon McQueen; one daughter, Damianna McQueen; sister, Janet Harris; nephews, Terral Milton and Jacob Harris; niece, Alexis Harris; Whitney Calhoun, whom she viewed as a second daughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
